The Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant is a monthly payment for unemployed South Africans who have no other income or support. The amount is R370 per month, and your status is reviewed every single month before payment.

If you never applied, or your grant lapsed, you can submit a fresh application. Reapplication is done on the same SRD portal.
If your application was declined and you believe you do qualify, you have the right to appeal. Appeals are not handled by SASSA directly but by the Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals.
You must appeal within 90 days of the declined month. Appeals for older months may not be accepted.
